Warm weather for this weekend with slight cooling be end of the work week.

Another round of warmer than normal temperatures are on the way for this weekend. We could see the hottest temps of the season with highs on Sunday and Monday reaching into the mid 90's. If you are a fan of very warm temperatures this should be a great thing. I am not a huge hot weather fan, but I am sure many will enjoy the heat given the cooler than normal spring so far this year. Enjoy the heat, and for the colder weather fans, try to find a nice shade tree and a cool drink. The weather will cool down slightly by the end of the work week back to normal or slightly above temperatures.

Pleasant spring weather expected for next week

The weather for the next 5-7 days looks excellent for all things outdoors related. We could even see temperatures 10-15 degrees above normal on Monday and Tuesday, with highs in the high 70's to low 80's. The seasonably warm weather continues throughout the 7 days forecast and into next weekend. Overall the pattern looks fairly normal for early May and will make sun and outdoor seekers quite happy. Enjoy!

Warm weekend replaced by showers next week

Here is your splendid weekend forecast>>
A wonderful set of warm days are upon us. We are expecting highs in the 80's on Saturday and Sunday which is 15 degrees above normal for mid April. Sunday appears to be the warmest day of the weekend and could tie or set a new record for daily high temperature. By Sunday afternoon a slight chance of thunderstorms is possible as a weak low tracks to our south and instability increases across the valley.
Enjoy the great weather while it lasts, as it will be short lived. Rain returns for next week.

Easter weekend will remain dry but stormy weather will prevail next week

The weather should remain dry through the weekend as a cutoff low wobbles around just off the Oregon coastline. This should result in partly sunny skies with highs in the mid to lower 60's. Sunday we should see more clouds as the low tracks inland. The low will begin to migrate slowly to the northeast by Sunday night which will result in a showery pattern for the southern end of the Rogue Valley and drier as you go north. Light showers will occur on Monday as the low then tracks to the SE into California.

By Tuesday a more potent system with a healthy jet steam, will impact the region with much stronger winds and rain. Overall the pattern will remain unsettled well into next week as a series of storms move in a progressive fashion across the Pacific. Snow levels appear to remain above pass levels for most areas. Also the potential for frost should remain low with overnight temperatures in the mid to lower 40's.

Back from a quick break from the blog; slight break in the stormy weather.

The stormy pattern that we have been witnessing  for the last two weeks will break down for a few days. We will see partly cloudy skies today with a slight chance for showers through Monday. Another strong front will enter the region on Tuesday with similar winds and rain. The showery pattern appears to continue well into the work week. This is a very good sign for all folks that are concerned with the lack of water so far this winter. Overall the wet pattern appears to stick around for the early part of the spring. I will keep you posted as the pattern shifts and let you know of any weather issues you may need to be aware of. Hope you enjoy the blog.

Strong storms arrive on Tuesday followed by showers and lower snow levels

A series of large storms are lined up just off the Oregon coast. The first storm that will arrive on Tuesday looks quite potent with strong winds and heavy to moderate rainfall along the coastline and parts of the interior. Snow will fall primarily above 3,000 feet but some locations could see a dusting to 1" around 1500 feet in elevation. The best chance for lower elevation snow is on Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Another front comes into the area towards the end of the week. Overall this appears to be a very active weather pattern and one we will welcome given our current rainfall deficit.

Another weak front grazes the Rogue Valley tonight into mid week

Another chance for rain will develop this afternoon with snow levels way above the valley floors. Snow levels will remain close to 5,000 feet and most likely climb higher as the week progresses. Today's weather will be partly sunny with scattered high clouds to begin the day and eventually shifting to showers by evening.
It appears the warm front will not pack a significant amount of rain as it enters tonight and exits the region by Tuesday. We could however see warmer than average temperatures as the warm core of the front remains over our region. By mid week we will be back under the influence of a ridge of high pressure. Overall the pattern remains about the same with weak fronts and marginal rainfall totals. Nothing to get excited about from a weather perspective. The good news is that we remain out of a long term stagnant air and fog pattern.

Snow possible Tuesday night with stronger front on Sunday

The last cold front that entered our area dropped 1.5 inches of snow and a water equivalent of .50 inches. It was a very wet and heavy snow which is great for our snow pack. The last snow reports indicated that we are only at 56% of our average water equivalent. Another front will approach our region tomorrow night with snow possible near 1500 feet or colder areas in the valley. The front on Sunday will be wetter but will also result in higher snow levels as the colder air will be pushed to our north. All together this is setting up to be an excellent pattern for our region with increasing rainfall amounts and snow in the mountains.

Very dry and warm weather continues into next week

A strong ridge of high pressure continues to dominate our weather into the weekend and possibly well into next week. We are seeing a similar pattern as what occurred in December. A few very weak fronts will attempt to undercut the ridge as they move south into California.

It appears however that much of the energy will miss our area and we will only see partly cloudy skies. The coast may see some accumulating precipitation from these fronts. Overall the pattern looks to be very boring from a weather perspective as we continue to see clear skies with high cirrus clouds and warm temperatures with highs into the mid 60's. This is not the pattern that we need to catch up on our rainfall deficit.
